2027: ADC Chieftain, Dele Momodu Cautions Against Southern Candidate, Says Tinubu Already Acquired All The Governors In The South-East

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dele Momodu, has cautioned opposition parties against presenting a southern presidential candidate in the 2027 Nigerian presidential election, arguing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already consolidated significant political influence across the southern region.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Momodu said the current political alignment in the South makes it extremely difficult for any opposition candidate from the region to defeat the incumbent president.

According to him, Tinubu, who is from the South, has already secured the loyalty or political cooperation of most governors in the South-East and South-South regions. He claimed that the only notable exception in the South-East is Charles Soludo.

Momodu argued that this political reality weakens the chances of a southern opposition candidate because northern voters may see little incentive to support such a ticket when the incumbent already holds strong political structures in the Southern part of the country.
