A prison officer attached to Burra Correctional Centre in Bauchi State, has reportedly killed a fellow officer following an argument over food.
DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS gathered that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, around 2pm in Burra town, Ningi Local Government Area.
A source who doesn’t want to be quoted said that the deceased officer, Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma, and his colleague, Kabiru Abubakar, were known to be close friends within the correctional facility.
The face-off reportedly started when Chiroma brought his lunch, and Kabiru insisted on eating, which led to a heated argument between the duo.
Mr Aminu Ahmed, the spokesman of the correctional centre who confirmed the incident revealed that the incident occurred outside the correctional facility.
He noted that Chiroma, the deceased, hailed from Giade LGA, while the suspect, Kabiru Abubakar, is from Dass LGA.
Both officers were posted to Burra Correctional Centre.
Ahmed added that the deceased’s body has been handed over to his family for burial, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
