The 12th Annual North Central Zonal Conference of Social Studies and Civic Educators Association of Nigeria, (SOSCEAN) is billed to hold in Abuja from November 4th to 7th 2024.
According to a statement by the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Dr Agnes Philip-Ogoh and Dr Habib H. Babajo, the Zonal President, Dr Sunday Jacob, welcome all the participants to the Zonal Conference.
The opening ceremony of the Conference holding at the Mohammad Gambo 1000 Capacity Auditorium, FCT College of Education, Zuba Abuja holds on Tuesday, November 5th 2024.
It added that members of SOSCEAN from all its branches in the North Central zone are expected in the Conference.
The theme of the 12th Zonal Annual Conference is “Social Studies and Civic Education: Pathway to Navigating the 21st Century Challenges”.
Dr D. B. Akinola of the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Abuja, Nigeria would deliver the keynote address while Dr Mrs Rutu Umaru of Social Science Education Department, University of Jos and Dr Reuben Idoko Otoja of College of Education, Oju, Benue state would be the lead paper presenters.
Multi disciplinary approach towards ameliorating 21st century challenges, Social Studies and Civic Education for curbing poverty and hunger and The role of Artificial Intelligence and technology for curbing the 21st century challenges are some of the selected sub topics to be considered during the four-day conference.
The Provost, FCT College of Education, Zuba, Abuja, Dr Sule Mundi is the chief host while Dr Amina Tijjani, Dean School of Arts and Social Sciences, FCT College of Education as well as Dr Okojir M. Uijiakhien, HOD, Department of Social Studies, FCT College of Education, Zuba are the host and co-host respectively.
