Celebration Of Life: Sir Oluokun Babalola Goes Home Friday, Nov 8; Family Announces Funeral Arrangements

The funeral programme of Sir Chief Solomon Oluokun Babalola has been announced.

The activities would kick off with a Day of Tributes at Omo Aj’orosun Club house, Ibadan by 4pm on Wednesday November 6th while the service of songs will hold at his Ore-Ofe Estate residence, Elewi-Odo, Ibadan on Thursday.

Methodist Cathedral of Light, Agodi, Ibadan would host dignitaries from all walks of life as farewell service is billed to hold there on Friday by 10am where the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba is expected to lead retinue of Methodist Bishops as well as other cadre of clergies to bid the Worthy Knight of John Wesley farewell before interment at the church vault.

Sir Chief Oluokun Babalola was a community leader in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital; a former President of the prestigious Omo Aj’orosun Club, Ibadan and a Knight of John Wesley.

The Bobajiro of Ikereku in Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan passed on after a prolong ailment at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan on August 10.

Sir Babalola, the Baba Ijo of Alakia Methodist Church, Ibadan (Sanctuary of Joy) was aged 72.

A great soldier of Christ and a former Financial Secretary of the Ibadan Chapter of the Council of Knights of Methodist Church Nigeria was one of the few foundation members of Alakia Methodist Church Ibadan over 35 years ago.

A grassroot and community developer was a former Chairman of Landlord Association in his area in Alakia Ibadan, during his tenure his goodwill attracted stable electricity to the area via provision of transformer.

He served for years as the Chairman, Governing Council of Community Secondary School, Alakia, Isebo.

Chief Babalola would be greatly missed by his friends, relatives, admirers and well wishers.

Born April 16, 1952, late Sir Oluokun Babalola had been a Choirister since his youthful days. He was a lover of Methodism who single handedly built a church in honour of his late Father, Pa David Babalola in Babalola Village of Akinyele Local Government.

He was survived by wife, Children, Grandchildren, relatives and aged mother.
