Text: Colossians 2:6-7, “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
Introduction:
Beloved, have you ever felt shaken or unstable in your spiritual walk? Do you desire a deeper, more secure relationship with God? Today, we’ll explore the concept of spiritual establishment, building a strong foundation in Christ.
I. Understanding Spiritual Establishment
Spiritual establishment refers to the process of being firmly rooted and grounded in God’s Word, secured in His love, and empowered for service.
- 1 Peter 5:10: “But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.”
- Ephesians 3:17-19: “That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height.”
II. Key Elements of Spiritual Establishment
- Rooted in Christ: Colossians 2:6-7 (our text)
- Grounded in God’s Word: Psalm 119:28, “My soul melts from sorrow; Strengthen me according to Your word.”
- Built up in faith: Jude 1:20, “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith.”
- Empowered by the Holy Spirit: Ephesians 3:16, “That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit.”
III. Benefits of Spiritual Establishment
- Stability in trials: Psalm 16:8, “I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”
- Confidence in prayer: Hebrews 10:22, “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.”
- Effectiveness in service: 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.”
Conclusion:
Beloved, spiritual establishment is a lifelong process. As you walk with Christ, remember:
- Root yourself in His love
- Ground yourself in His Word
- Build yourself up in faith
- Empower yourself through the Holy Spirit
Pray with me: “Lord, establish me in Your faith, strengthen me in Your love, and empower me for Your service. Amen.”
