Terrorists Attack Nigerian Military Camp, Kill 20 Soldiers

At least 20 soldiers have been killed in an attack on a Nigerian military camp in Karito, Borno State, by Islamic State fighters.

According to Channels TV, the assault took place on Saturday when the fighters launched a coordinated attack using various weapons, including a car bomb.

While the exact number of casualties has not been officially confirmed, military sources reported that about 20 soldiers lost their lives, and several others were wounded during violent clashes.

The fighters took control of the camp, setting it ablaze and destroying military equipment, including a vehicle.

They also seized several four-wheel drive vehicles and heavy machine guns before retreating from the area.

Following the attack, the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, expressed his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, condemning the assault as a reminder of the ongoing threat posed by insurgents.

Governor Zulum reassured the public of the government’s continued efforts to restore peace and security in the region, vowing to press on with resettlement and development programs despite the attack.

He thanked the armed forces for their unwavering commitment to securing the state and called on the people to support the military in their ongoing fight against the terrorists.
