Senator Dino Melaye has mocked former governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello following his arraignment on Wednesday at the FCT High Court.
Bello nicknamed White Lion and his co-defendants pleaded not guilty to the 16-count charge of fraud filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).
The co-defendants – Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu were earlier admitted to administrative bail by the EFCC.
However, the anti-graft agency opposed Bello’s bail application.
The EFCC lawyer, Kemi Pinheiro, said the window for bail application closed in October.
Bello’s lawyer Joseph Daudu countered. He said a defendant, in line with the law, is innocent until proven guilty.
Melaye, a longtime opponent of Bello, posted a video of the ex-governor in court on social media.
“Ex white lion docked,” he captioned it.
