‎Sad: 20-Year-Old Fresh BABCOCK IT Graduate, Boluwatife Samuel Akawa, Dies Days Before Graduation

‎The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the sudden and mysterious death of a 20-year-old Babcock University graduate, Boluwatife Samuel Akawa, just days after completing his final exams.

‎Boluwatife, a recent graduate of Information Technology, was reportedly on campus finalizing his clearance when tragedy struck. According to security sources, his roommates rushed him to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by the attending physician.

‎Police officers who visited the university gathered preliminary statements from one of his roommates, Adili Leonard Chimdindu. Adili revealed that Boluwatife had earlier complained of feeling unwell, citing cold symptoms and difficulty in breathing on July 27. He was encouraged to seek medical attention at the University Medical Centre, but it is unclear whether he did.

‎“He was in a good mood the night before,” Adili reportedly told investigators. “We even played games on his laptop until about 11 p.m. He didn’t show any signs of serious illness.”

‎The next morning, Boluwatife was found unresponsive. Efforts to revive him proved futile.

‎The deceased’s elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John, has also provided a statement to the police, while the body has been deposited in the university morgue pending autopsy.

‎The Ogun State Police Command says investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and await the results of the post-mortem examination.

‎The incident has left the university community in shock, particularly as Boluwatife was just days away from celebrating his graduation.
