‎‎BREAKING: Methodist Church Nigeria Elects Six New Bishops, Elevates Bishops Chindo, Onuoha To Archbishop

Methodist Church Nigeria late on Friday rose from her Conference Connecxional Council, CCC and announced the election of six new Bishops and the elevation of Bishop, Kano Diocese, Rt Revd Ibrahim Chindo and the President of ‘Vision Africa’, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha to the rank of Archbishop.

‎Sources closed to the meeting of the executive arm of Nigeria’s premier church – Methodist Church Nigeria hinted DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS that three new Dioceses of Gokana South, Gboko and Wesley were created to join the league of over 100 Dioceses spread across the Conference Area.

‎The Prelate, His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba JP chairs the CCC with The Rt Revd Dr Babatunde Abiodun Taiwo TFG, JP as the Secretary of Conference.

Rt Rev Chindo, Bishop of Kano Diocese is now the Archbishop-elect of Kaduna Archdiocese to take over from retiring Kaduna Archbishop while Bishop Onuoha would be designated as the Pioneer Archbishop of Special Duty, the first of its kind in the history of the church.

Archbishop-Elect Ibrahim Chindo

Rt. Rev. Ibrahim Chindo hailed from Madakiya, Zongo Kataf LGA, Kaduna State.

‎Archbishop-elect Chindo had his Primary education at L. E. A. 2 Zonkwa between 1970  and 1976, Theological training at Sagamu 1984 – 1986, Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan between 1986 and 1989. He is an alumnus of University of Abuja, now Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja.

‎Chindo was ordained as a Priest in 1992 and made Presbyter while at Suleja in year 2000 as the Pioneer Presbyter of Suleja Circuit in Abuja Diocese. He was elected Bishop in 2007.

‎The Archbishop-elect is married with five children.

‎Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha is the founder and president of Vision Africa International and the co-chair, Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace.

Bishop Sunday Onuoha is a global activist for justice and peace.  ‘Vision Africa’ focuses on bringing networks of faith communities to share God’s love and empowering the grassroots which helps build Nigeria’s indigenous capacity to solve problems and cure society’s ills from the inside out. Onuoha is also the Executive Director of Nigerian Interfaith Action Association.

‎He is a former Special Assistant on Privatization in the Presidential Cabinet of Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2003. Bishop Sunday is consecrated as Bishop in the Nigerian Methodist Church.

Born on March 22, 1964, in Item, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

‎In 1983, Onuoha was accepted  into the ministry of the Methodist Church in Nigeria. He earned his Bachelor’s degree, served as a pastor, and was involved in mission and outreach in Nigeria.

‎In 1995, Onuoha completed his Master’s and Doctorate from Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology in Dallas.

‎Archbishop-elect Onuoha has shown, over time, that he is a man among men. To put it differently, he is one in a million. 

‎Affectionately called Bishop of the masses, Onuoha is an entrepreneur, distinguished educationist, prolific writer, quintessential philanthropist, peacemaker, bridge builder, global citizen, great minister of undiluted gospel and perfect gentleman.

‎He was Abia State governorship candidate under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He believes that his state of birth, just like Nigeria, deserves a better deal. He wanted to govern Abia State  to “address the pains and sufferings of our people.”

‎DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that Very Rev Dr Stephen Ogolo is the Bishop-elect of Diocese of Wesley; Very Rev Ekebuisi Chikodiri – Bishop-Elect, Kano Diocese; Very Rev Clement – Shaminga, Bishop-Elect, Diocese of Gboko; Very Rev Friday Iyetu, Bishop-Elect Diocese of Gokana South; Very Rev Elijah Ndaeyo, Bishop Elect, Ikono Diocese; and Very Rev’d Menele Kenneth Nwibiabubari, Bishop Elect, Diocese of Kono.
