‎Windfall: Billionaire Leaves £846m Fortune to Neymar Without Ever Meeting Him

‎In a story that sounds stranger than fiction, Brazilian football icon Neymar Jr. has reportedly become the unexpected heir to a staggering £846 million fortune—left to him by a billionaire he never even met.

‎According to Brazilian outlet RIC, the unnamed mogul, said to have been childless and single, formalised his will at a law office in Porto Alegre, with witnesses present, just days before his death. Court approval will still be required before the windfall can reach Neymar, but the move has already sent shockwaves through Brazil and beyond.

‎The businessman is said to have admired Neymar from afar, identifying deeply with the Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona legend’s devotion to family, particularly his close bond with his father. Friends of the late tycoon claimed Neymar’s relationship with his dad reminded him of his own late father—prompting the extraordinary decision.

‎Neymar, 33, has so far remained tight-lipped on the reports. Even if the will is validated, legal hurdles could arise before the fortune is finally transferred.

‎After a turbulent stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal, Neymar returned to his boyhood club Santos in January. He scored three goals in 14 appearances in the second half of the 2024–25 season, rekindling memories of his electric first spell, where he bagged 136 goals in 225 games between 2009 and 2013.

‎For now, the Brazilian superstar’s name is making headlines not for dazzling goals, but for one of the most unusual inheritances in sporting history.
