A community in Ogoni Rivers State was thrown into confusion over the weekend after a shocking incident involving a father of two who reportedly died while having an affair with the wife of a well-known herbalist in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the event happened late in the night at the compound they both slept.
Sources revealed that the deceased, who was a mechanic, had been secretly involved with the herbalist’s wife for months without the knowledge of her husband, a respected herbalist in the community.
Trouble started when residents noticed unusual movements around the compound.
Out of curiosity, a young man peeped through the window and raised alarm after seeing the man struggling for breath while lying on top of the woman. Before help could come, he gave up the ghost.
Speaking with reporters, the eyewitness said:
“At first, I thought it was a normal affair, but when I saw the man shaking and gasping, I knew something was wrong. We rushed in and pulled him off her, but he was already gone.”
The woman, looking frightened and confused, told those around that she never expected such a thing to happen. In her words:
“We were only together for a short time, then he started shaking. I called his name, but he didn’t answer again.”
The news spread like wildfire, and angry youths stormed the herbalist’s house, suspecting that he might have placed charms on his wife to prevent infidelity. However, the herbalist, who later arrived at the scene, denied any involvement.
“I didn’t send any charm after anybody. If my wife decided to disgrace me, that is between her and God. But I cannot kill a man,” he said.
Police operatives later arrived to calm the situation and took the body of the deceased to the morgue for autopsy.
As of the time of filing this report, investigations are still ongoing, but the community remains divided.
Some believe the herbalist truly charmed his wife, while others say the late mechanic may have suffered a hidden health problem.
