‎Boastful Benin Coach, Gernot Rohr Says ‘We are ready for Osimhen, Lookman’

‎**** full of confidence ahead of Super Eagles clash

‎Benin boss Gernot Rohr has declared his players will not be intimidated by star names as they prepare for their clash against the Super Eagles in Uyo next week.

‎Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr is keenly aware of the attacking quality in the Super Eagles squad but insists his team is now riding a wave of confidence ahead of their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo next week.

‎Rohr’s men secured a critical 1-0 victory over Rwanda on Friday, a result that keeps them top of the tightly contested Group C standings leading into the final round of fixtures.

‎‘We have to win the game’ – Ekong assures Nigerians that Super Eagles are ready to claim victory over Benin.

‎The German coach is deeply familiar with the Super Eagles, having managed the Nigerian side and guided them to the 2018 World Cup, and he believes Friday’s narrow win provides the perfect boost for his squad.

‎“Playing against (Victor) Osimhen, (Ademola) Lookman, (Moses) Simon, (Alex) Iwobi—That’s another story, but this result builds confidence,” Rohr told reporters.

‎The fate of the single World Cup ticket from Group C will be decided next Tuesday. A win for Benin will automatically secure their qualification, regardless of other results.

‎The Super Eagles must win by at least two clear goals and hope South Africa fails to win their own final fixture for Nigeria to secure the dramatic turnaround and qualify.

‎The clash in Uyo is absolutely vital and promises to be an electric conclusion to the qualifying campaign.
