The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has uploaded over 93 percent of the results from the Anambra governorship election on its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
As of 6:24 p.m., visuals obtained from the INEC IReV portal indicate that 93.642% of results have been uploaded in the Anambra governorship election.
In the latest development, DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS observed that 5,356 out of 5,720 polling units across the state, had been uploaded.
Sixteen candidates from different political parties are going head-to-head for the number one seat in the state. The incumbent governor, Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), is seeking re-election.
Polling stations across the 21 local government areas of the state opened around 8:30 a.m. and officially closed by 2:30 p.m.
DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that INEC had stated that 2,769,137 out of 2,802,790 registered voters in Anambra, representing 98.8 percent, collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the governorship election in the state today.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, described the turnout for PVC collection as “a significant achievement” for any election in Nigeria.
