Dr Kayode Egbetokun has been removed as the Inspector-General of Police and replaced by AIG Tunji Disu, a senior police officer, has told DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful, but a source said, “It’s confirmed, but an official announcement will be made.
“AIG Tunji Disu is the new IGP. Confirmed,” he told DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS.
He added in a message that, “It’s double confirmation.”
Olatunji Disu was born on 13 April 1966. His appointment to the position of Inspector-General of The Nigeria Police is subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.He would be on acting capacity until his confirmation by the apex chamber of the National Assembly.
IGP Disu was also the former Commissioner of Police in Abuja, The Federal Capital Territory. He was a commissioner of police in River State before he was deployed by Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police to Abuja as the new the commissioner of police in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the former head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Police Force in Nigeria, the position previously held by Abba Kyari. He was the Principal Staff Officer to the Acting Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
He’s a graduate of English Education from Lagos State University (LASU) and a holder of two master’s degrees, one in Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, the other in Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University.
