Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted five worshippers during an attack on a church in Uso community, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

‎The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, throwing residents of the town, located along the Akure–Owo highway, into fear after the armed men invaded the church while a service was in progress.

‎According to sources within the community, the assailants stormed the worship centre and forcefully took away five congregants to an unknown destination.

‎It was learnt that one of the abductees later regained freedom after escaping from the captors shortly after the attack, although further details about the escape were still unclear.

‎At the time of filing this report, the name of the affected church and the condition of the remaining victims had yet to be confirmed.
