‎‎APC Makes Last-minute Move As Bala Mohammed Weighs Exit From PDP

Barely 24 hours after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) visited Bauchi to woo Governor Bala  Mohammed, a strong delegation of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), led by its National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, stormed the state.

‎The delegation, which included Kano State Governor Kabiru Abba Yusuf, went straight into a closed-door meeting with the governor at the Government House on Wednesday.

‎Also at the meeting were the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman, Secretary to the State Government Aminu Hammayo, the Chief of Staff, and some members of the National Assembly.

‎Although details of the meeting were sketchy, it was gathered that the visit may not be unconnected with alleged moves by the governor to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ADC.

‎The meeting, which lasted about an hour, ended without any official briefing as members of the delegation declined to speak with reporters.

‎They were immediately driven out of the Government House to the airport en route to Abuja.

‎Efforts to get the governor’s reaction were unsuccessful as he also declined to comment.

‎However, all eyes are on Thursday, April 2, when Governor Mohammed is expected to announce his next political move.

‎DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that Governor Mohammed, while briefing journalists shortly after the meeting with ADC officials earlier, lamented that efforts to reconcile aggrieved factions within the PDP had failed, accusing the camp aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of frustrating peace moves within the party.

‎He disclosed that he constituted reconciliation committees at both the federal and state levels, but the initiatives yielded no positive results.

‎The governor also revealed that he had explored the possibility of joining the APC and met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on three occasions.

‎He said, “I met President Tinubu three times to help with PDP’s reconciliation because Wike was used to destroy us, and he was amenable (open) to the reconciliation.

‎“I even swallowed my ego to meet Wike at his house in Abuja, but Wike told me he’s already a conqueror and has taken all the positions in the PDP. I thought the PDP convention wouldn’t hold, so we’d withdraw our cases in court and come to a negotiation, but neither the presidency nor Wike called me back,” Mohammed had said.
