‎‎Former Governor Wins Bauchi APC Governorship Ticket

Former Governor Mohammed Abubakar has emerged victorious in the All Progressive Congress’s governorship primary election in Bauchi State.

‎The Chairman of the APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Election Committee, John Bassey-Abang, announced the result.

‎He said on Saturday in Bauchi that the exercise was conducted on May 22, 2026.

‎DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that Abubakar polled 57,517 votes to defeat six other aspirants who participated in the primary election.

‎Giving the breakdown, the chairman said Nura Manu-Soro scored 13,638 votes; former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, secured 26,001 votes; while Bala Wunti polled 13,648 votes.

‎Others were Kabir Baba-Ma’aji with 8,157 votes, while Baba Suleiman and Yakubu Abdullahi got 7,688 and 7,181 votes respectively.

‎“Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, having secured the highest number of votes cast with a total of 57,517, is hereby returned as the winner of the APC governorship primary election in Bauchi State,” Bassey-Abang declared.

‎The chairman also announced the results of the party’s State House of Assembly primaries, which were held on May 21.

‎Abubakar served as governor of Bauchi State from 2015 to 2019 on the APC platform.

‎He lost his re-election bid to Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election.
