***Urges More Patronage by Nigerans
The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba JP, and the entire leadership of Nigeria’s premier church have been commended for setting up and equipping a guest house, Wesley Pastoral Centre, Aje Street, Yaba, Lagos.
The National Executive Committee (NECO) meeting of Methodist Men’s Fellowship chaired by the National President, Sir Dr Kehinde Olasunkanmi Oladeji KJW, gave the commendation during the four-day session of NECO that rounded off on Sunday with a thanksgiving service at Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Yaba, Lagos.
According to a statement by the Fellowship’s National Public Relations Officer, (NPRO), Sir ‘Tunde Babalola KJW, JP, the meeting also urged the leadership of the Church in the Archdioceses and Dioceses in the Conference area to embark on more investment ventures nationwide to maintain the enviable status of MCN as the premier church in Nigeria.
It called on Prelate Aba and his New Dawn administration to ensure that the Guest house is fully completed, run efficiently and productively to shore up the church financial base.
Methodist Men’s Fellowship then appealed to Nigerians especially Methodist faithfuls in and around Lagos and those that may have an event in Lagos to always patronize Wesley Pastoral Centre, Aje Street, Yaba, Lagos.
Other highlights of the meeting included the presentation of the new Conference Men’s Work Coordinator, The Very Revd Lt. Saviour Ibanga JP to the meeting by his predecessor and Bishop-designate, James Agbenyi Adikwu and urged the Fellowship to support him as they worked with him without hitches.
The statement added that “NECO in session appreciated the leadership of the church for electing the National Cordinator, Men’s Work, Very Revd James Agbenyi Adikwu, and Very Rev Obinna Agbo, Archdiocesan MF Cordinator, Aba Archdiocese into the prestigious office of Bishop.
”NECO in session appreciated the leadership of the church for appointing a vibrant minister, Very Rev’d Lt. Saviour Ibanga JP, to take over the spiritual oversight of the Fellowship as the new Coordinator of Men’s Work in the Conference Area. The new Coordinator had a rich background of working with both Young men and Men’s Fellowship and well known for leaving impactful foot print in any giving assignment.
”Prelate Legacy Project: All men throughout the Conference area are mandated to key in to the successful execution of this project and pay designated levies through their local churches with directives that all Dioceses should submit list of names of MF members that paid to NMF through their Archdioceses.
”NECO in session advised Methodist Family to emulate the examplary life of Susan Wesley who trained her children (most especially John and Charles Wesley) in the way of the Lord with good moral upbringing.
”NECO in session lauded the leadership acumen of His Grace, the Most Revd Dr Obafemi Bamidele Adeleye of the Archdiocese of Lagos Mainland for successfully hosting the NECO without hitches.
”NECO in session warned against Voters apathy as Nigeria goes to poll in 2027 and encouraged members to participate actively in voting credible candidates in the forthcoming general elections early 2027.”
The meeting which had in attendance members from all the component Archdioceses in the Conference Area reviewed programmes aimed for the spiritual uplift of men in the Conference area and also lauded all the regions for organizing Conventions this year to boost the participation of Men in the spiritual programmes of the Church.
