Veteran actor Olu Jacobs has been laid to rest, with family, friends and colleagues gathering for his funeral service today, Friday, at This Present House Church, Lekki, Lagos.
The service has drawn members of the entertainment industry and other dignitaries, who came to pay their last respects to the late thespian.
Among those paying tribute was entertainment entrepreneur Darey Art Alade, who performed his hit song Pray For Me, featuring Olu Jacobs and his wife, veteran actress Joke Silva.
The actor’s son, Olugbenga Jacobs, also presented his father’s biography during the funeral proceedings.
The burial follows a Night of Tributes held on Wednesday at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island, where Nollywood stars and well-wishers gathered to honour the late icon.
Jacobs died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84.
Jacobs was one of Nigeria’s veteran actors and was widely recognised for his contributions to theatre, television and film.

After returning to Nigeria, he became a prominent figure in the country’s film industry and was regarded as one of the veteran figures of Nollywood.
Jacobs won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2007. He also received the Industry Merit Award at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and the MAA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
