***Urges Nigerians To stand for the truth, uphold justice
The President Bola Tinubu administration has been urged to do all within its means to end the spate of kidnapping and high level of insecurity in the country especially in the Northern region of the nation.
Methodist Men’s Fellowship in the Northern Region rising from a three-day convention hosted by the Archdiocese of Abuja at Christ Cathedral Nyanya, Abuja noted that the incessant and deplorable state of insecurity may hinder Nigerians from appreciating the laudable contributions and efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in steering the affairs of the nation to the promised land with her economic reforms and the introduction of policies and projects aiding the growth and development of Nigeria.
In a communique after the Convention jointly signed by BRO. HARVEST EMMANUEL OLU, the Chairman, Communique Drafting Committee; MAZI EMMANUEL OKEREKE, the Public Relations Officer, Northern Region Men’s Fellowship; The VERY REVD NWANKWO KENNETH NWABUEZE JP, Coordinator, Northern Region Men’s Fellowship and SIR MARK NDUKWE, KJW, the President, Northern Region Men’s Fellowship, Methodist Men also tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission to deliver on credible poll and let the people’s votes count.
The Convention tasked Nigerians especially men to always stand for the truth, uphold justice, and radiate the light of Jesus Christ in their offices, church and society at large.
”Men were charged to deepen their intimacy with God, renew spiritual vitality, and reassert their divine mandate as pillars of the family, vanguards in the community, and faithful stewards in the House of God. At a time when Nigeria yearns for moral clarity, men must stand for truth, uphold justice, and radiate the light of Christ.
”Resilience Amidst Adversity: Noting the prevailing economic hardship and socio-spiritual pressures, men were exhorted to remain calm, anchored in faith, and unwavering in trust. The Word of God remains our unfailing weapon, for the battle belongs to the Lord. Service to God must not be contingent on recognition.
”Marriage and Godly Home: The sanctity of Christian marriage was reaffirmed. Men were enjoined to enthrone God in their homes through mutual submission, sacrificial love, mutual respect, intentional communication, a culture of forgiveness, insulation against external intrusion, and the raising of children in godly nurture.
”Stewardship of Health: The Convention noted that ageing is a privilege denied to many. While ageing is inevitable, the manner of ageing is a choice. Men were urged to embrace preventive healthcare through regular medical evaluation, disciplined self-care, and deliberate rest and recreation to preserve longevity.”
The Convention had in attendance the Rtd Hon Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Hon Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen GCON, KJW who delivered the keynote address on “The Lord will fight for you; You need only to be still”, challenged men to be committed to a four fold covenant which included Commit to unshakable Prayer life, Commit to Absolute integrity, Commit to unifying brotherhood and Commit to fearless faith in the lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Justice Onnoghen challenged the leadership of the Fellowship on socio-economic solidarity with her members, coming to the aid of any brother who loses his job or business by providing practical support, networking opportunities and financial empowerment schemes as well as eradicating what he termed “silent suffering”, noting that too many men are dying in silence, crushed by clinical depression and hidden battles.

There were also presentation of papers on “Building A Godly Marriage In A Changing World” by The Very Revd Lt Saviour Ibanga JP, MCN Conference Men Work Department and “Men, Old Age and Health” delivered by Dr Charles Akpabio.

The Convention attracted Methodist Men’s Fellowship members from all the over 25 Dioceses and five Archdioceses in the Northern Region.
