The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara are meeting in Port Harcourt ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike arrived at the governor’s private residence in Port Harcourt at about 4:30 pm on Sunday, accompanied by a retinue.
The purpose of the meeting was not clear when this report was filed.
Sources close to the governor told our correspondent that it aligns with the 2027 general elections.
However, the encounter comes amid political realignments and manoeuvres ahead of the 2027 elections, with Rivers State emerging as a key battleground.
The political alignment between the two leaders remains central to political parties’ and supporters’ calculations ahead of the next general elections.
Wike, a former Rivers State governor, remains an influential figure in the state’s politics and has openly declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The outcome of Sunday’s meeting could therefore offer clues to the direction of political alignments in Rivers State as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
Details of the meeting were still awaited when this report was filed.
Details shortly…
