The House of Representatives has passed a bill to revert to the old national anthem “Nigeria We Hail Thee” for the first, second and third reading at Thursday Plenary.
Passage of the bill means the current National anthem “Arise o’Compatriots” will no longer be the national anthem again.
Though some ‘unidentified’ members of the House who didn’t agree with the speedy passage of the bill staged a work-out, the presiding officer, Hon. Benjamin Kalu went ahead with the third reading which eventually led to the passage of the bill.
The Lawmakers argued that a sensitive bill as that should be given enough time for members to deliberate on
They said, it is rather suspicious , the way the Bill was abruptly passed.
