‎A 32-year-old man allegedly became a victim of rape after meeting two women, both aged 26, at a tavern in Winnie Mandela Zone 8, Thembisa.

‎According to reports, the trio drank together before going to a rented backyard room in Winnie Mandela Zone 4, where the man was allegedly overpowered and sexually assaulted by the two women.

‎The police say the victim managed to reach the key during the ordeal, unlocked the burglar door, and escaped with the landlord’s help. He then reported the matter to the police.

‎The two suspects were arrested and are expected to appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on a rape charge.

‎The South African Police Service in Thembisa said gender-based violence affects everyone, including men, and urged victims not to remain silent.

‎In another development, two suspects have reportedly been arrested in connection with the tragic death of Wendy Achumba, a nursing student whose decapitated body was discovered in her hostel room in Umulogho Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.

‎According to reports, the suspects confessed to repeatedly raping the victim before taking her life to prevent her from identifying or reporting them.

‎Wendy, who hailed from Abia State, was a student of the College of Nursing in Umuadara village, Umulogho Community.

‎She had reportedly completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing post-basic training at the institution before her tragic death.
