The Democratic Republic of Congo has booked a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2023 CAF African Cup of Nations after beating the Pharaohs of Egypt 8-7 on penalties.

This happens to be the first shootout in the tourney’s round of 16 games.

The win came after a full-time 1-1 draw at the Stade Laurent Poko, San-Pedro in Ivory Coast.
