‎‎Again, Boko Haram, ISWAP Launch Joint Attack In Adamawa Gov’s Hometown, Kill Gov Fintiri’s Cousin

‎The hometown of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, Madagali Local Government Area, has again come under attack, marking the fourth assault in five months.

‎DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that Madagali was previously attacked on October 1, 2025; November 19, 2025; December 8, 2025; and most recently on February 24, 2026.

‎The latest attack reportedly claimed dozens of lives, according to various local sources.

‎About 27 persons have been murdered after a joint Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists attack in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State in the early hours of Wednesday.

‎According to reports, the terrorists overran Shuwari Sholi community, killing residents and burning structures in an attack that lasted several hours.

‎Among the dead is the village head of Shuwari, Bademi Papka, identified as a cousin of Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.

‎An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the attackers stormed the community on motorcycles, targeting villagers sitting near the village market and those at the market square.

‎“They started shooting at people sitting together under a tree near the market,” the eyewitness said.

‎The eyewitness noted that residents fled in different directions for safety as the insurgents fired sporadically.

‎“By God’s grace, some of us escaped unhurt, but many were shot dead while we scampered toward the mountains,” the source said.

‎He also noted that military personnel in the area were alerted but arrived after the attackers had left.

‎“The situation is a bit calm now, but we are still living in fear and uncertainty. We are calling on the government to redouble efforts to address this menace,” he said.

‎Confirming the incident, former Madagali Local Government chairman, Maina Ularamu, said the attack indeed took place, though casualty figures varied.

‎Mr Mohammed Yusuf, from Kirchinga—the governor’s village—told DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS in a phone conversation on Thursday, that suspected Boko Haram insurgents invaded the village around midnight on Tuesday, killing several people.

‎“Nobody can give you the correct figure of the dead now, because many people ran into the bush, and we are yet to account for others from this village,” he said.

‎Another source suggested that the attackers operated in a coordinated manner, indicating possible insider assistance.

‎“They were calling people by their names to come out or be burned inside their houses. This implies there were insiders among the attackers who invaded our village,” he stated.

‎Local sources provided varying casualty figures, but the police have yet to release an official number.

‎When contacted, the Adamawa State Police Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said authorities are still gathering information on the total casualties.

“I am still making contact to get the correct figure of the casualties; just give me a little time,” he said.
