Muhammed Babangida has officially accepted his role as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), refuting online claims suggesting he declined the appointment.
In a statement made public on Monday, Babangida described the reports of his alleged rejection as unfounded and aimed at misleading Nigerians and discrediting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He affirmed his appreciation for the opportunity, saying, “Muhammed Babangida is honoured to accept the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture and thanks President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him.”
Babangida emphasized his dedication to the assignment and revealed that steps were being taken to trace and hold accountable those responsible for spreading what he called deliberate falsehoods.
The statement further warned against misinformation and urged citizens to rely on authentic sources for news concerning national matters.
Babangida, a son of former military ruler General Ibrahim Babangida, is one of several recent appointments made by President Tinubu aimed at revitalizing federal agencies.
He is expected to bring valuable private-sector experience and global insight to his new position, which is crucial to advancing agricultural productivity and rural development across the country.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…
Our attention has been drawn to a certain letter currently in circulation, indicating that Mr. Muhammed Babangida declined his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), as the Chairman of Bank of Agriculture. Not only is the letter fake but mischievous, and only the imagination of mischief makers seeking personal selfish interests over and above our collective national interest.
Mr. Muhammed Babangida holds President Tinubu in high regards and consider the call to serve our nation a great honour, one not taken for granted.
He believes strongly in the bold reforms of Mr. President, which are the hallmarks of his RENEWED HOPE AGENDA.
Nigerians are therefore advised to disregard the fake letter.
Thank you.
