Four northern states are currently experiencing power outages due loss of bulk power supply by the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company.
The affected states are Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi.
A statement by the Kaduna DisCo Head of Corporate Communications, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, confirmed the development on Sunday.
According to Abdullahi, the power supply would be restored as soon as DisCo received bulk supply at load centres across its franchise.
“The Management of Kaduna Electric wishes to inform its esteemed customers that it has lost bulk power supply hence the outage being experienced currently in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states.
“Power supply shall be restored to our customers as soon as we receive same at load centres across our franchise.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience,” the statement read.
DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that the DisCo did not disclose the cause of the sudden loss of bulk power supply.
However, it could be recalled that the lack of gas supply has negatively impacted electricity generation across the power plants in Nigeria for over a month.
The electricity generating companies, the Transmission Company of Nigeria and the electricity distribution companies have all complained about low gas supply for power generation.
The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, at a meeting with stakeholders on Thursday, promised to find a lasting solution to the problem.
