BREAKING: Convoy Of First Lady Remi Tinubu Involved in Fatal Accident, Claims Life of Seven-Year-Old Girl

A vehicle belonging to the convoy of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has tragically killed a seven-year-old girl named Saratu Lawal in Akure, Ondo State.

DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that this incident was corroborated by numerous eyewitness accounts.

The First Lady, Remi Tinubu was in the state to launch the South-West phase of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a federal programme designed to enhance the welfare of women and girls throughout the nation. During the event, over 10,000 professional kits were distributed to nurses and midwives across the region.

The accident occurred around the Oba Ile area while the convoy was making its way from Akure Airport to the venue of the programme.

According to sources, a butter-coloured Hilux from the motorcade struck the young girl.

“A seven-year-old girl by the name Saratu Lawal, a pupil of Islamiyar Arabic School, Shasha, was knocked down by a butter-coloured Hilux in the government convoy of Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is on an official visit to Ondo State,” one source reported.

The source further indicated that the accident took place near the Oba Ile Central Mosque on Thursday morning. “It claimed the life of the child as every effort to save her could not yield the desired result even when she was rushed to the primary healthcare in Oba Ile,” they added.

Malam Lawali, the father of the deceased and a trader at the Oba Ile Market, confirmed his daughter’s passing, stating that he has “handed everything to God.”

Saratu’s body has since been returned to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the incident.
