‎‎BREAKING: Kano State Gov. Yusuf Alleges Security Threat, Demands Removal of Kano CP

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw the Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, alleging that his continued presence in the state poses a security risk.

‎The governor also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu to urgently intervene in Kano’s security architecture to prevent what he described as an impending threat.

‎Gov. Yusuf’s alarm followed the absence of the Commissioner of Police, along with police personnel, at the Independence Day parade held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where the Nigeria Police traditionally play a leading role.

‎The governor was left with personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration Service, Prisons Service, and other paramilitary agencies.

‎Addressing the crowd at the event, Governor Yusuf accused the police leadership in the state of partisanship and vowed to submit a formal petition against the CP.

‎“As you can see, on this historic Independence Day, the Commissioner of Police chose to withdraw himself and his personnel from the parade. This decision, based on reasons known to him and his allies, is unacceptable. As the Chief Security Officer of Kano State, we are deeply disappointed by this conduct,” Yusuf said.

‎He added, “Kano is peaceful, and its people are peace-loving. By the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, no one has the right to dictate how the people of Kano vote.

‎“On behalf of all Kano residents, we condemn this unpatriotic and partisan act. I therefore call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the Commissioner of Police in Kano.”

‎Efforts by ‎DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS to speak with CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori and the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, were unsuccessful as calls and text messages were not returned.
