Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has officially defected to the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC)
Obi announced his move on Wednesday, December 31, in Enugu, marking a new political direction ahead of the 2027 general election.
The former Anambra State governor said his decision to join the ADC is driven by a desire to transform the country and steer it away from its current challenges.
“We are ending this year with the hope that in 2026 we will begin a rescue journey,” he declared.
He also vowed to challenge electoral malpractice in the next polls, saying, “We will resist rigging of election by every lawful means in 2027.”
