Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos was full of praises for his team after their penalty shoot-out win over Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final match, on Saturday.
South Africa returned to the last four after 24 years, thanks to the heroic performance of goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
Williams saved four penalties as South Africa beat Cape Verde 2-1 on penalties after 120 minutes – without goals – to set up a replay of the 2000 semi-final with Nigeria.
“There was a lot of pressure in the match,” Bruce said after the game.
“Everyone wanted to qualify. This match was unlike the previous ones. We did not show the same performance as we had in previous matches.
”South Africa will face a Nigerian side that defeated Angola 1-0 for a place in the final.
“The semi-final match will be different against Nigeria, which has good players like Lookman.“We will not lose focus. The players will be in good condition, so we need to rest and recover to start our preparation,” he said.
