CELEBRATION: Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Avowed Supporter Of President Tinubu @ 56

Bishop Dr. Stephen Tunde Victor Adegbite is a big name among the Christian Community in Lagos, and in Nigeria by extension. He is the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Lagos State. He is also a Methodist Minister. And a brilliant one at that. He is also the Bishop of the Metropolitan Diocese of Ikeja, Methodist Church of Nigeria, Ikeja, Lagos.

Bishop Adegbite is not a pretender, he always stand with his conviction. He’s an Avowed Supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Even, when some Nigerian Christian were skeptical on supporting President Tinubu’s election late 2022, Bishop Adegbite said unequivocally during a public function that “God will not forgive me if I do not vote for Tinubu.”

The Bishop had gone down memory lane at the programme organised for Senator Oluremi Tinubu, then wife of the APC Presidential candidate and the Federal Lawmaker representing Lagos Central Senatorial District in the state and while reminiscing, he paid glowing tributes to Tinubu, a former Governor of the state and how his personal relationship with him (Tinubu) has grown over the last 23 years and what he has done for Christianity in Lagos state.

He is the incumbent Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.

Rt. Rev. Stephen Tunde Victor Adegbite was born on the 17th August, 1968 in Oyo State. He attended Fiditi Grammar School, Fiditi from 1979 –1985 thereafter he proceeded to enroll at the Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan from 1988 – 1991 where he attained a Diploma in Theology and a Diploma in Religious Studies before proceeding to the University of Ibadan in 1992 – 1995 where he attained a Bachelor of Arts (Religious Studies) Hons. He holds a Master of Arts. (Ethics) 1998 and a PhD from the prestigious University of Ibadan Jan 2022. He attended the CORAT in Kenya Skillful Management for Church Administrators in 2008.

Management Course for Presbyters in ASCON in Badagry, Lagos State Nigeria for Four consecutive times in 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2016, respectively.

He is an alumnus of the Strategic Management Course in Huston Texas – USA 2013 and the Strategic Management Course in Huston Texas–USA 2015.

The forthright Bishop Dr Stephen Tunde Victor Adegbite has received several awards for his accomplishments over the years.

He was awarded the Best Student in English Language Immanuel College of Theology in 1991; Best Student in Department of Religious Studies University of Ibadan in 1996 Set; Best Post Graduate Student University of Ibadan in 1998 set; and 70 Awards from various Christian Bodies and Organizations.

Coupled with the above he has held several positions such as the Synod Secretary Trinity Church Council from 1996- 2001; Synod Secretary Lagos Diocese from 2001 – 2009; was the Chairman of City Wide Crusade Lagos Diocese in 2000.

He was the Lay Preachers Coordinator Archdiocese of Lagos from 2001 – 2009; Presbyter Araromi Circuit; Presbyter Wesley Cathedral Olowogbowo Lagos during whose time the new Church was built. He was a Senior Lecturer at the Methodist Theological Institute Sagamu from 2009 – 2012. He was the Vice–Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria Lagos State (2012 – 2014). He was also a Former Member Board of Governors of Igbobi College Lagos from (2009 – 2013). He was the Secretary Electoral College for the 2016 CAN.

He served as the Proto–Presbyter, Methodist Church of the Trinity, Tinubu, Lagos (2012 – 2015). He was the former Chairman, Christian Council of Nigeria Lagos State. He was also former Treasurer, Christian Association of Nigeria Lagos State. He is a Member of the Lagos State Pilgrim’s Board, and a Member Board of Governors Immanuel College of Theology Ibadan. Member Inter-Faith Committee Lagos State (NIREC). He is the Bishop, of the Diocese of Ikeja and the Chairman of CAN Lagos State. He is also the Chairman Christian Council of Nigeria, Southwest and a Member of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC).

He is the current supervising Bishop for Igbobi College, Lagos representing the Methodist Church Nigeria. Bishop Stephen Adegbite has travelled to Jerusalem leading Christians both in Lagos and Nigeria for the past 23 years.

He has also travelled to other Countries including Germany, Britain, Greece, Rome, Dubai, Kenya, Ghana, to mentioned just few.

He was married to Mrs. Funmilayo Adetifewa Adegbite of blessed memory. He has since re- married to Princess Adewunmi Fadeke Adegbite and the marriages were blessed with four loving children, Tayo, Tope, Taiwo and Kehinde.
