‎‎Chelle Highlights Areas For Improvement Ahead Of Top-of-The-Table Clash Vs Tunisia

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has acknowledged that significant improvements are still required despite Nigeria’s winning start to their Group C campaign at the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports.

‎Nigeria opened their tournament with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tanzania, with goals from Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman securing maximum points for the three-time African champions.

‎Tanzania briefly threatened a comeback after Charles M’Mbowa equalised shortly after the restart, but Nigeria held on to seal the win.

‎While pleased with the result, Chelle admitted that the performance exposed several technical shortcomings that must be addressed before the Super Eagles’ next assignment against group leaders Tunisia.

‎Speaking after the match, the Nigerian coach emphasised the need for greater efficiency in front of goal, particularly after his side created multiple scoring opportunities.

‎“We are satisfied with the three points — that is the most important thing,” Chelle said. “For now, I want to focus on the positives. However, the second half clearly showed that there is still work to be done, especially when it comes to killing off games. We are aware of this, and we will work on it.”

‎Nigeria will face Tunisia on 27 December at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Fez in a top-of-the-table encounter that is expected to play a decisive role in determining Group C supremacy.
