A wave of uncertainty has emerged following the appointment of two individuals as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority (UNRBDA) by President Bola Tinubu.
Aliyu Tajudeen was first announced as the Managing Director in a letter dated October 30, 2024, signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume. The letter, referenced SGF.51/S.4/T/368, confirmed Tajudeen’s four-year tenure starting October 29, 2024.
In an unexpected development, another statement released on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointment of Dangajere Shuaibu Bawa Jaja as the Managing Director of the same authority.
Efforts to clarify the apparent contradiction have so far been unsuccessful. When contacted, Onanuga did not respond to inquiries regarding the situation at the time of this report.
