Details Of Ajaero’s Interview With Police Emerge

Details have emerged regarding the recent interview between the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and the police, following his summons over an ongoing investigation related to the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests.

Ajaero was summoned to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) command at Guzape, Abuja, where he was questioned in connection with allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony.

On Thursday morning, Ajaero, accompanied by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana and a coalition of lawyers, arrived at the IRT command as early as 10:20 a.m.

The interview, which lasted less than two hours, concluded with Ajaero and his legal team leaving the command.

A lawyer from Ajaero’s legal team told Daily Post that the police had no substantial evidence against the NLC President, suggesting that the interview did not yield any incriminating findings.

The lawyer who wished to be anonymous said, “It was a very friendly interaction, they summoned him to find out if he was in the know of somebody they were investigating.

“The person was one of the protesters and they wanted to know if he was one of the tenants of Labour House, he had a bookshop about six years ago.

“Even there we enjoined them to release all the protesters or charge them to court.

“Ajaero has no business with the arrest of anybody. We told them that the Labour House is on the 10th floor and the person they arrested is on the second floor.

“The person’s bookshop they came to ransack is on the second floor, so, Ajaero has nothing to do with being invited by the police.

“We told them that they should have just placed a call instead of writing to him and making it look serious.”
