‎Driver, 2 Other Docked For Stealing Jewelry, Others Worth N60m From Emir Sanusi II’s Wife

‎Suleiman Yakubu, a driver attached to one of the wives of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, have been docked for allegedly stealing jewelry, a cash sum of N500,000, and a Samsung phone, all valued at N60 million from her boss, DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports.

‎Yakubu was arraigned alongside Idris Uba- Musa, and Abdullahi Hassan, whose addresses and ages were not provided by the court are charged with conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property before Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kano on Wednesday

‎The prosecutor, Mr Abubakar Ibrahim, told the court that Yakubu who works as a driver to the Emir’s first wife (Sadiya Ado-Bayero), committed the offence on March 16, in Kano.

‎He alleged that the first defendant trespassed into her room and stole jewelry, a cash sum of N500,000, and a Samsung phone, all valued at N60 million.

‎The first defendant Yakubu pleaded guilty to the charge, while the second and third defendants pleaded not guilty.

‎According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 97, 280 and 317 of the Penal Code.

‎The defence counsel Mr A.A. Abdullahi, made a bail application on behalf of his clients.

‎Chief Magistrate, Hadiza Abdurahman, granted bail in the sum of N10 million each with two reliable surties.

‎She said one of the sureties must be the defendant’s father or brother, while the second surety must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 15.

‎The judge adjourned the matter until April 13 for hearing.
