Nigeria’s Super Eagles fell 2-1 to the Pharaohs of Egypt in a friendly at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday night.
Mahmoud Saber, and Mostafa Mohammed were on target for Egypt, while defender Chidozie Awaziem scored for Chelsea.
Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle started with a number of fringe players.
Egypt made their early dominance count with Sober slotting home from inside the box in the 28th minute.
Awaziem restored parity for Nigeria from Zaidu Sanusi’s free-kick late in the first half.
The two teams made a number of changes after the break.
It was Egypt that netted the winning goal through Mohammed in the 52nd minute.
The Super Eagles will now travel to Fez, Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday.
They face the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their opening fixture next week Tuesday.
