‎‎ELECTION: WOWICCN NEC Validates North Central Election, Puts Smiles On Faces Of Widows

The National Executive Council meeting of the Women Wing Christian Council of Nigeria, (WOWICCN), has ratified and upheld the recently conducted elections of the Executive of North Central zone of WOWICCN.

‎This was part of the resolutions of the National Executive Council meeting of the body held on June 28, 2025 at the Jonathan Ekong Memorial Lutheran Seminary, Obot Idim Ibesikpo in Akwa Ibom State.

‎According to the highlights of the meeting resolutions made available to DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS, the Council also directed all other zones and states to conduct their elections immediately while hailing the WOWICCN North Central zone for being proactive.

“Elections in Zones and States:

‎ “Zones and states are to conduct their elections as scheduled, following proper procedures to ensure correct representation at the national and zonal levels.

‎”Anambra WOWICCN:

‎ – It was reported that they held an election and inauguration without involving the zonal coordinator. The National Chairperson promised to investigate why this occurred,” the meeting highlights stated.

‎DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS reports that WOWICCN, North Central zone conducted her election in Abuja on Saturday June 14th 2025 during which Deaconess Blessing Idoko emerged as the zonal Coordinator with Mrs Ruth Ndolough to assist  her as Assistant Coordinator.

Mrs Helen Timothy was elected as Secretary General with Jemima Anidi as Assistant Secretary.

‎Lady Janet Babalola of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Archdiocese of Abuja was elected as the Financial Secretary. 

Other elected into WOWICCN North Central zonal executive were Mrs Victoria O. Samuel, Public Relations Officer; Mrs. Hajaratu Omotosho, Treasurer; Mrs Florence Balogun, Welfare Officer and Mrs Nneoma Awa as the Prayer Coordinator.

‎WOWICCN National Executive Council meeting deplored the low attendance often recorded for both her online and NEC meetings, stressing the need for all the states and zones to be represented in any National meeting.

‎As part of efforts to alleviate the impact of the nation’s economy on widows, Widows from various states across the country and ALL the denominations of WOWICCN were supported with a token sum of 30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira only each) as part of the activities for the celebration of the International Widows day, 2025.
