As many state governments have announced the payment of a 13th-month basic salary or various forms of Christmas bonuses to their workers, the Federal Workers Forum, (FWF), have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pay the outstanding balance of the three-month wage award, amounting to N105,000, to all federal workers this December.
This, according to a statement by Comrade Itoro Obong. the National Secretary, Federal Workers Forum, would go a long way to serve like a bonus for the festivities since the federal government have never conceived the idea of 13th-month salary for her workers.
This payment will not only serve as a much-needed relief during the festive season, but it will also demonstrate that the current administration recognizes the sacrifices and economic hardship federal workers continue to endure.
The three months of unpaid wage awards have remained a lingering issue, especially after the government failed to comply with its own previously announced payment schedule.
”We strongly urge the government to fulfill this obligation without further delay. Failure to address this matter may compel workers across the federation to embark on another round of nationwide protest,” the statement concluded.
