‎FG Begins Audit Of Civil Service Workforce

‎The Federal Government, through the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, has mandated all ministries, departments and agencies to submit their nominal rolls and update the details of officers on the popular payment platform, IPPIS.

‎The government said it is part of the effort to identify existing and consequential vacancies in the civil service.

‎A nominal roll contains the names of personnel in an organisation. It serves as an official record, which can be used for identification and administrative purposes.

‎DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS gathered that the decision of the government was communicated in a memo dated July 7, 2025 and addressed to all ministers, heads of government agencies, parastatals, heads of security agencies, permanent secretaries among others.

‎The memo signed by the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Fatima Mahmoud, on behalf of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack reads, “In line with ongoing efforts to update the nominal roll of officers under the common pool of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, ministries, departments, and agencies are requested to compile and submit an up-to-date nominal roll of such officers.

‎“This exercise is aimed at enabling structured employee mobility and effective workforce planning through the identification of existing and consequential vacancies.

‎“Accordingly, you are to submit soft copy of the nominal roll to designated OHCS Officers who will visit your offices for the collection as

‎scheduled below: i. Directorate-Level Officers (SGL 15-17): within three days from the date of this circular; and Officers on SGL 06-14: within two weeks from the date of this circular.

‎“Furthermore, the MDAs’ IPPIS Human Resource Desk Officers are enjoined to ensure that during the update/variation of employees’ grades/positions, the dates of present appointments of all officers are updated in the appropriate field to ensure the accuracy of HR employee information on the IPPIS platform.

‎“Permanent Secretaries/Accounting Officers are expected to ensure the completeness and timely compilation/submission of the required data to facilitate the success of this exercise.”
