‎‎G4GJ Concludes the 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence; Commemorates International Human Rights Day

A coalition of civil society organisations known as Group for Gender Justice (G4GJ), committed to ending Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and advancing gender justice, today joined the global community in commemorating International Human Rights Day and marking the close of the 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

‎According to a statement by Amaka Biachi, Esq., on behalf of G4GJ, “In alignment with this year’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) theme, “Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials,” G4GJ reiterates that human dignity, bodily autonomy, access to justice, and equality before the law are fundamental rights which must be protected for all persons, particularly survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.”

‎Between 25 November and 10 December 2025, member organisations under the G4GJ network implemented coordinated, survivor-focused interventions across several communities. These collective efforts included:

‎✓ Rights-sensitive documentation of SGBV cases across partner organisations,

‎✓ Immediate psychosocial support to stabilise survivors and prevent trauma escalation,

‎✓ Swift referral to medical facilities for examination, treatment, and preservation of evidence,

‎✓ Submission of formal complaints and petitions to law-enforcement agencies, with notifications sent to relevant oversight and support institutions.

‎Throughout the campaign, G4GJ maintained its strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, ensuring that survivors, regardless of their age, gender, socio-economic status, or location, received dignified and equitable access to services, support, and representation within the network.

‎G4GJ calls on government agencies, the legislature, law-enforcement institutions, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders to redouble their efforts in strengthening legal protections for survivors, improving institutional response mechanisms, and upholding human rights as daily essentials that must be respected and enforced without discrimination.

‎As the coalition reflects on the progress made this year, G4GJ renews its commitment to expanding collaborative support services for survivors, promoting transparent and survivor-centred governance systems, and advancing comprehensive gender justice across Nigeria.
