The National Commission for Museums and Monuments, (NCMM), has signed a historic management agreement with the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II at the Royal Palace in Benin.

The Director General of NCMM, Mr Olugbile Holloway, signed on behalf of the Commission.

The signing was with the support of the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture,Tourism and the Creative economy.
DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS gathered that this agreement grants the NCMM permission to manage all aspects pertaining to the Benin antiquities, from repatriation, conservation, storage and exhibition.

According to reports, “The future of the Benin bronzes will be built on collaboration between the NCMM as the government agency mandated to do this and the Benin royal court as the custodian of Benin heritage and culture. All parties are now united by a common goal to see a lot of our priceless artifacts safely returned home.”
