‎‎JUST IN: As Emergency Rule Ends In Rivers, Presidency, AGF Remain Silent

As Rivers state anticipates the impending conclusion of the emergency rule on September 18, speculation and hopes rise regarding the reinstatement of the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

‎Recent developments, particularly the smooth execution of the local government election, have led many to believe that there may be no grounds for an extension of the emergency measures.

‎That in light of these events, a ministerial aide highlighted the apparent return to democratic processes within the state, emphasizing the lack of necessity for continuing the emergency rule.

‎According to the aide, Governor Wike’s primary concern lies in the restoration of democratic governance, devoid of personal biases or vendettas.

‎However, attempts to extract a conclusive statement from the Presidency or the Attorney-General of the Federation regarding the matter have been met with reserved responses.

‎When probed for elucidation, a spokesperson for the President discreetly redirected inquiries to the AGF, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

‎Fagbemi’s assistant, Kamarudeen Ogundele, opted to withhold definitive comments, advising a wait-and-see approach until the emergency rule naturally expires.

‎Even as uncertainties linger, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, radiates optimism about the scheduled conclusion of the state of emergency in Rivers on the stipulated date of September 18.
