‎‎JUST IN: Internal Squabbles Over Zoning Forced PDP To Her Kneels, Suspends Screening Of Aspirants For 2025 National Convention

The Peoples democratic Party (PDP) has abruptly suspended its earlier scheduled screening of aspirants for various National Working Committee (NWC) offices ahead of its elective national convention slated to hold in Ibadan on November 15 and 16, 2025.

‎In a statement issued on Monday by the Governor Umaru Fintiri led National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC), the party did not give any reason for the suspension of the screening exercise.

‎According to the statement signed by Governor Fintiri, a “new date will be communicated when fixed”

‎Part of the statement reads:

‎“The National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has put on hold the screening of aspirants for the 2025 Elective National Convention, earlier scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances.

‎“A new date will be communicated once fixed. The NCOC regrets any inconveniences caused by the postponement.

‎“All Aspirants and members of our Party should note the foregoing and be guided accordingly.”

‎The scheduled convention is threatened by two court actions including a forgery allegation by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu who has petitioned the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services alleging that his signature was forged in the letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in respect of the convention.
