JUST IN: NiMet Workers Suspend Strike
Unions under the Nigerian Meteorological Agency have suspended their strike action for two weeks.
The industrial action, driven by demands for better working conditions, was called off following a meeting with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in Abuja on Thursday.
President of the National Union of Air Transport Employees, Uzor Oluchi, confirmed this to DECENCY GLOBAL NEWS on Thursday night.
Oluchi said, “We have suspended the strike by 12.00 by two weeks and after two weeks have passed and nothing is done about our demands, we will start again.”
The workers had protested poor working conditions, citing the failure to implement the new national minimum wage, the exclusion of certain staff from past allowances, and the neglect of vital training programmes, among other issues.
