The presentation of the 2025 budget to the National Assembly by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu started off on a dramatic note on Wednesday.
This followed a gaffe in which the President referred to the National Assembly as the 11th National Assembly.
However, the lawmakers had corrected the President by shouting 10th Assembly back at him. In response, the President told the lawmakers that he wrote ’11th’.
This elicited raucous laughter from the lawmakers. But before the laughter could died down, Tinubu added that ‘that means that you are all reflected, an assertion that elicited even louder cheers from the lawmakers.
Just before the presentation began delivering the budget speech, the lawmakers had sang the popular ‘on your mandate we stand’ to cheer him up.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio had in his welcome speech lauded the President for his achievements.
He also lauded the President for facilitating constituency projects for lawmakers.
Akpabio also promised that the lawmakers will continue to support policies and initiatives of President Tinubu, especially the tax reform bills.
