Methodist Bishop Onoja Tasks Leaders On Righteous Leadership

*** Inducts Very Rev Dr Samuel Jephthah Friday As Cathedral Presbyter Of Kubwa Diocese

Nigerian leaders including religious and secular leaders have been tasked to always be decisive while considering advises and counsels in order to lead people righteously with the fear of God.

The Bishop, Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Kubwa, The Rt. Revd Dr Frederick Agada Gabriel Onoja gave the charge today in a sermon at Induction service of The Very Revd Dr Samuel Jephthah Friday as the Presbyter and Minister in charge of Methodist Cathedral of Grace, Kubwa, Abuja.

He told the Presbyter that the attribute of a good leader is to be resolute and apply wisdom of God while considering advises from people in a leadership role.

Bishop Onoja cited Psalms 1 verse 1 in advising the inducted Presbyter not to work in the counsel of the wicked.

In the Sermon titled: “The Lord is my Shepherd”, the Methodist Bishop noted that God can only be a shepherd to a blameless, upright and righteous person.

He highlighted some benefits and advantages of having God as one’s shepherd which included divine protection, provision and unlimited promotion even in the presence of enemies and tormentors.

The Very Rev Dr Samuel Jephthah Friday DCF, the new Presbyter of Cathedral of Grace, Kubwa was Commissioned as a Deacon in 2010, Ordained a Priest in 2013 and preferred as Presbyter in 2020.

He is a Ph.D holder in Church Management and Administration from Oral Roberts University. He holds B.A (Hons) Religious and Cultural Studies from University of Port Harcourt and Diploma in Theology and Religious Studies from the Methodist Theological College, MTI Umuahia.

He had served in the Dioceses of Gokana, Bori and D/Line before his transferred to Diocese of Kubwa.

The Very Revd Dr Jephthah Friday DCF was posted as the Cathedral Presbyter last October.

Very Revd Dr Jephthah Friday is married to Mrs Ikur Inyi Samuel Jephthah who incidentally becomes the President of the Cathedral Circuit Women Fellowship with the assumption of duties of her husband in the Circuit in line with the practice of the premier church.
