Nigerians especially men who are heads of their respective families have been tasked to always take solace in the word of God and ‘think outside the box’ by the use of honest measures in order to avoid depression and navigate successfully and unhurt through the current economic reality facing Nigeria and Nigerians.
A Bishop of Methodist Church Nigeria, The Rt Rev Dr Samson Olukayode Osundina, gave the advise on Saturday while delivering a paper titled: “Pushing Through the Economic Reality” as part of the ongoing National Executive Committee, NECO meeting of Methodist Men’s Fellowship.
Providing four ways for Nigerian men to come out unhurt over the nation’s economic downturn, Bishop Osundina warned against covetousness adding that at this critical stage “we have to love our neighbours as ourselves.”
He advised men to always think like a manager, be proactive in season and out of season as well as taking risk rather than embracing procrastination.
The cleric noted that “failure to take risk is failure to rise.”
Bishop Osundina take a swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with his ‘rash’ “Subsidy is gone” statement without first counting the cost and providing viable alternatives and cushioning measures.
He was of the view this is not the time of playing to the gallery and attending every social functions advising men not to put themselves under unnecessary pressure.
The Archbishop of Lagos Archdiocese, The Most Rev Isaac Ayobami Olawuyi, had declared the NECO meeting open with a charge on Men in Methodist Church Nigeria to arise and join in the building and repairing of the broken walls as the Church improve her efforts in evangelism and relevance to the needs of the society.
In his remarks, the Lay President of Lagos Archdiocese of the church, Sir Olayemi Gbolahan, challenged the fellowship to change the narration about the fellowship and project her for the next generation, urging that they should integrate properly the Young Men’s Fellowship.
The National President of the Fellowship, Sir Dr Kehinde Oladeji KJW, presided over the four-day meeting held at Patriarch Bolaji Cathedral, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The meeting attracted executive officers of the Fellowship from various parts of Nigeria.
