N50bn Revenue: After Bringing Nigeria To This High Of Hardship, Politicians Still Steal More Public Funds – JAMB Extorting Poor, Vulnerable Students – Aisha Yesufu Blast Kashim Shettima

Social critic and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, on Thursday, alleged that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, is over charging students for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

Yesufu suggested that JAMB might be widening the educational inequality gap in the country by extorting the poor and vulnerable students.

In a post on her X handle, Yesufu stated that JAMB was not supposed to be a money making organization.

Her statement followed remark by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima that Prof Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, made over N50bn for the Federal Government within a year.

Shettima spoke during a public engagement organised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The Vice President, speaking on the issue of corruption in the public sector, noted that JAMB never made up to $1m for the Federal Government before Oloyede assumed office.

However, the statement didn’t go down well with Yesufu, who suggested that the Education body might be overcharging Nigerian students.

“Let me say what I have said before. JAMB is not supposed to be a money making organization.

“JAMB making 50bn means JAMB is over charging students.

“I will even call it extortion of poor and vulnerable students and widening the educational inequality gap,” she wrote on her X handle.
