Newly Elected Obio-Akpor LG Chairman Knocks Wike, Says ‘We’ve Dismantled Your Structure, You Can’t Govern Rivers From Abuja’

Honourable Chijioke Ihunwo the newly elected Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government, has fired a warning shot to Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, noting that his political influence in the state has been uprooted.

Mr Ihunwo stated that the same political tactics Wike once used against his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, are now being employed against him.

While speaking to newsmen in Port-Harcourt after casting his vote, Ihunwo stressed that Rivers State can only have one governor, and Wike, who served as governor for eight years, must allow the current governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, to lead without interference.

“Nyesom Wike cannot govern Rivers State from Abuja. We only have one governor, and that is Sir Siminalayi Fubara. Wike has had his time, and now he needs to step aside and let Fubara complete his tenure,” Ihunwo said

Speaking further, he accused Wike of interfering in state affairs for personal political gain, particularly the control of Rivers State’s political structure.

“The political structure Wike is fighting for has been taken over. Rivers people have spoken, and Wike is no longer in control,” Ihunwo declared.

Ihunwo likened Wike’s current political struggles to the treatment he once meted out to former governor Rotimi Amaechi.

“What Wike did to Amaechi is exactly what is happening to him now. This is the law of karma at work,” Ihunwo said, highlighting what he perceived as poetic justice for Wike’s past political maneuverings.

Ihunwo also berated Wike’s involvement in protests in Rivers State, noting that Wike had previously mocked Atiku’s supporters for staging protests, calling them “Student Union Government (SUG) presidents.”

“Today, Wike has led men of integrity to the streets of Port Harcourt to protest. What goes around, comes around,” Ihunwo concluded.
